The JST battery was used in pet doors manufactured after June 2014. The JST battery provides a reliable power source with a similar lifespan to a car battery. This long-lasting battery ensures your pet door continues to function smoothly even during power outages and automatically switches to backup power.

• Use: The JST battery is suitable from serial numbers xxx04xxxxxx, xxx06xxxxxx, xxx08xxxxxx and for all models produced after the manufacturing date 06/14.
• Operational capability: Unlike older models, your pet door will work without a battery installed. However, the JST battery is required so that the door can switch to emergency power mode in the event of a power outage.

When do I need a new battery?

If the operating mode flashes green or the "LOAd" indicator remains on the display for several days, this indicates a discharged or defective battery. The "LOAd" indicator also appears when the battery is unplugged. If the flashing stops within a week, the battery has recharged. However, if the flashing continues, the battery is either deeply discharged or defective and must be replaced.

It's important to note that older models use an AMP battery with a special connector. Unlike newer models, these models won't work without a battery. While the battery can be disabled on newer models, the door won't be able to switch to emergency power mode in the event of a power outage.

How to identify which battery is installed:

• JST battery : Installed in newer models, the connector is visible (right or left, depending on the door hinge)
• AMP battery : Installed in older models, the connector is not visible

You can either replace the battery yourself ( download instructions here ) or send the pet door in for repair, so we can replace the battery for you (flat-rate battery replacement fee).
